Fresh Flowers

Fresh flowers have got to be the nicest thing you can ever bring into your home. With them comes sunshine and spring no matter if it's in the middle of the winter. It not only gives your table a lift, but it lifts your sprits. It is amazing how much joy can come from something so small. Yet it fills the heart of everyone who sees it. Flowers are one of nature's wonders and a gift from the gods.

If you want to make a flower arrangement, it can be very simple. It doesn't have to be an elaborate affair. All you need is a clean simple vase and clean clear water and maybe a pack of plant food to keep your flowers happy and perky. However, they do need daily care and it is not time consuming.

Change the water in your vase on a daily basis. If your bouquet is in foam, then remove the foam and cut the stems from the bottom. If they are cut back a little every day, it will help to keep them fresh by ensuring that they can drink the water they need. Don't place your flowers near a heater or any kind of a heat source. This includes sunny windows because this will just hurry along the process of them dying. Place them in as cool a place as possible, such as under a ceiling fan.

Remove any dry leaves on a daily basis and if your flowers start thinning out, just add a couple of stems of fresh ones to always make your bouquet look full. Make sure you drain off the old water every day and replace it with fresh. This is very important to the life of your flowers. Another thing you could do is learn how to choose the freshest flowers, whether they are from a florist or a street corner. Make sure the stems are firm and look for signs of any decay or yellowing. Check out the leaves, stems and blooms. You don't want to see any marks on any part of the flower at all and if you don't, then you are holding a very nice bunch of flowers.
