Of all the flowers that we are accustomed to, we usually know the names. We rarely give any
thought to the flower meanings. For every flower name there is a meaning behind it and some of
them quite surprising. However, when we really think about the name of the flower, we can gain
a better understanding of its meaning.
The Hibiscus means delicate beauty and this flower speaks for itself. It is not hard to see why it
was named this. The Holly means foresight, defense, domestic happiness and enchantment. The

The Hydrangea means thank you for understanding, frigidity, heartlessness, and heartless. The
Iris, which is the emblem of France, means your friendship means so much to me, faith, hope,
valor, and my compliments. This flower is usually associated with the 25th anniversary.
The White Lily has the meaning of purity, modesty, virginity, majestic, and its heavenly to be
with you. The White Lily is linked to Juno the queen of the gods in Roman mythology, but it is
also known as the symbol of the Virgin Mary. Then there is the beautiful Lily of the Valley,
which means the return of happiness, purity of heart, sweetness, tears of the Virgin Mary, you've
made my life complete, humility and happiness. The legend of this flower is that it sprang from
Eve's tears when she was sent from the Garden of Eden.
