Flower Garden Design
When you are thinking of a flower garden you have to keep the flower garden design at the top
of the list and this will include form and texture. You have to have contrasting shapes. A true
landscape designer takes the form of individual components of a plant into account. For example,
the leaves of one plant can take a different look than those of another. Leaf form and flower form
are at the very heart of a landscape design, but it is mainly the texture.
If you're doing a fall garden, then you will more than likely stay with the tried and true colors of
fall such as the orange, reds and yellows. This can make a very positive showing as the days of
winter draws near, but there are also silver, gold and bronze that can be added to make your
autumn flower garden spectacular. For example, if you use the African Marigold, the Silver King
and a Bronze Coleus, they all work well together.
Some people want to be a little different and go for the pinkish - purple Chrysanthemums over
other colors that are available. They also will try the New England Aster, which is purple in
color. You can also try the reddish purple annual called " Love Lies Bleeding". That is very
popular for those who try to make a strong statement before winter moves in and takes over.
Regardless of what you use for a color scheme in your fall flower garden, don't forget to include
as many colors as you can to make a spectacular showing. Let your fall flowers scream out
against the winter that is knocking at the door in an attempt to keep it away for just a little while
longer. Your garden can be the one place that summer still blooms even though the air is telling
you different as you feel the nip of cooler weather. It's the last of summer as we knew it and the
one place that is left in fall that can truly lift your spirits and take you back to the long warm lazy
days of not so long ago. So give great thought to your fall flower garden as it will give you many
rewards in return.
