Flower Bouquet
Your sweetheart has given you the most beautiful flower bouquet that you have ever seen and
you want that bouquet to last a lifetime. However, we all know that flowers die very quickly
unless you know the ways that they can be preserved. You can keep the beauty of your flowers
for a very long time if they are dried and there are several different ways this can be done.
The simplest way is to tie the bouquet together and hang it upside down in a well ventilated area,
but away from the sun. Time will take care of the rest. Depending on the climate you're in or
how much moisture there is in the flowers, the drying time will vary. A second way of doing this
is using sand to dry the flowers. Just fill a box with about an inch of white sand, lay the bouquet
on top of the sand and cover it with another layer of sand. You have to make sure that all the
blooms are covered. Then place a cover on top and put it in a warm dry place. This method will
take about three weeks to complete.
There is another process that you can try which involves cornmeal and borax. Mix one part
cornmeal and one part borax together. Again you have to fill the box with about one inch of the
mixture. Place the flowers on top as before and cover them with the rest of your mixture. Seal the
box and place in a warm dry place. This method will dry your bouquet in about two to three
weeks.
There is another way to accomplish your flower drying and that is using silica gel. This involves
pouring silica gel into an airtight container and placing the flowers on the layer of gel. Then you
pour the silica gel over the rest of your flowers. Seal the container and place it in a warm dry
place. This is the fastest method you will find for drying flowers. Your bouquet should be ready
in three days. After the process is finished, you will know when the gel turns from blue to pink.
Just pour off the excess silica gel and your flowers are ready for you to use as long as you want.
